Work Package 6 Institutions
WP6, dedicated to climate issues, has three participants: the University of Bern (UNIBE), the Institute of International Relations of Prague (IIR), and the University of Trento (UNITN). These partners conducted research across several sub-areas, detailed below. The outcomes of this work package include scientific publications, events, databases, and digital tools. The platform presented here provides access to and showcases these various outputs developed within WP6.
Climate Litigation
Work Package 6 analyzes how climate change and human rights intersect at various governance levels: international, regional, and national. The visual tool captures this multi-layered approach, integrating key legal frameworks, including international trade and investment law.
It presents a structured and accessible overview of relevant case law and proceedings that shape the evolving landscape of global climate litigation. These include:
Human Rights Justification
At the heart of WP6 is the systematic classification of human rights justifications, described in detail within the project’s methodology. Human rights serve as a foundational reference point throughout all research activities, and this typology supports a shared analytical lens across the entire HRJust project.

Civil Society Engagement
WP6 also places strong emphasis on the participatory dimension of climate and human rights research. It investigates how civil society actors contribute to shaping legal and policy outcomes through active engagement.
This aspect is explored through a series of structured interactions and feedback loops, including the following initiatives carried out within the Ongoing Direct Civil Society Engagement (ODCSE) methodology:
Explore the WP6 analytical tools
The WP6 platform provides a set of interactive tools designed to make the collected research material easier to explore, compare, and interpret. Together, these interfaces support both detailed case-level analysis and broader views of the dataset’s trends, patterns, and geographical distribution.
Database
Access the main research database through an interface built for direct consultation and structured exploration of the WP6 material.
Interactive Map
Explore the collected climate cases through a geographic representation that highlights their spatial distribution across jurisdictions.
Infographics
Consult visual summaries of the dataset to better understand overall trends, distributions, categories, and emerging patterns across the research material.
Project Dataset, Documentation and Research Materials
While the tools above enable interactive exploration of the WP6 dataset, the materials below provide direct access to the underlying research documentation. Together, they support transparent consultation, methodological clarity, and responsible reuse of the project’s climate claims data and analytical framework.
Dataset
Access the merged project database containing the structured research material behind the platform’s climate claims analysis.
Codebook
Review variable definitions, coding logic, and structural guidance for interpreting the dataset accurately.
Methodology
Consult the research method underpinning the work package, including the conceptual and analytical approach used to build the materials.
